As a senior in high school, Jarod joined the team at The Nike Store in Eugene, Oregon. Little did he know that a part-time retail job would be the beginning of a 22-year career. During his time at Nike, Jarod had the privilege of working with the best athletes in the world and built a diverse breadth of experience spanning product creation and management, brand marketing, strategic planning, purpose integration, and retail.
After making the decision to leave Nike in the Fall of 2020, Jarod began contemplating the next chapter. Throughout his career, he’s been fueled by an entrepreneurial spirit, a bias for collaboration, a consistently optimistic outlook, and the thrill of turning deep insights into effective strategies for game-changing results. This drive, combined with his passion for people and leadership, made the choice to co-found Merify with a few good friends an easy one.
Through leading growth for Merify, Jarod gets to connect daily with like-minded career industry professionals who work tirelessly to see increased representation of minority groups in tech, endeavor to reduce or bias in hiring wherever possible, and strive to bring humanity back to the process of finding a job and growing a career.
Jarod calls Portland, Oregon home along with his wife, Jess, and their daughter, Sloane. A big believer in the power of volunteering, Jarod has served as a Big Brother for Big Brothers/Big Sisters and as a Mentor for the University of Oregon Sports Product Management Master's program. In his spare time, you can either find him at a concert enjoying live music, or outdoors camping, fly fishing, cycling, trail running, or hiking.
